Tsunami Service Jan 2nd 2005

As you know, as of Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, more than 70,000 people have been killed worldwide following a massive earthquake close to Indonesia, which triggered devastating tsunamis.  In the southern Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu many thousands of victims were killed by tidal waves on the beach. In response to this tragedy, this Sunday, Jan 2, 2005, at 11:00 AM, the temple will hold a special service in memory of those who have been lost. This is to help the families who have been affected cope with the disaster.

The temple will be collecting donations to help provide the victims with hot meals through ISKCON’s Food for Life relief agency. Food for Life in Sri Lanka and Chennai are providing cooked vegetarian meals for the tsunami victims. Initially providing 5000 hot vegetarian meals per day, they plan to increase as they get more resources and travel to different affected areas. We plan to provide updates of their progress. Food for Life guarantees that 100% of the donations will be given to the tsunami victims. They will also supply medical items, sleeping mats, bed sheets, etc, as needed.
